Jibal has initiated the founding the of the ACL in 2022 and is now a driving force in its development. The coalition will soon launch a public event in order to become open for new memberships and to work on advocacy.
The Declaration of the About Section of ACL
The Agroecology Coalition Lebanon is a collaboration of groups and individuals aiming to establish an alternative food and agricultural system. Following a series of events that shook food security in Lebanon and the world, this coalition emerged to redefine the meaning of food in the local consciousness, from a commodity on the global market to a right for all people. We propose agroecology as an alternative that enables communities to achieve food sovereignty by managing their resources to build a food system that is socially, economically, and environmentally just for all.
The Agroecology Coalition Lebanon is the fruit of years of solidarity and reflection on collaborative solutions and principles that protect all segments of the population, both human and environmental. The coalition includes multiple stakeholders who support these principles, including local associations, experts, and activists. The coalition’s principles align with Nyéléni’s Declaration.
We believe that food security in Lebanon, like food safety previously, is a symptom of an existing, unregulated system, devoid of choice and decision-making, a system subservient to the global trade model, which commodifies food like other commodities and imposes an opportunistic competitive system that drains communities and resources. We also see local capacity, particularly natural, cultural, and human, to mitigate and possibly reverse the food crisis.
The coalition seeks to restore people’s right to choose and question their food sources and to encourage responsible and solidarity-based consumption. It also seeks to empower agricultural communities to earn a decent living from agriculture and to embrace their responsibilities in producing healthy and appropriate food that is in harmony with ecosystems.
The coalition works to achieve its goals through multiple channels that reflect the diversity of its members and strategic vision, including community awareness, agricultural extension, local and regional networking, and related research and legal efforts. The coalition supports regional and global cooperation in addressing common and interconnected challenges, recognizing the transboundary interdependence of resources and risks. From this perspective, the coalition is working to mobilize the necessary capabilities to build this local community to avoid past crises and address future challenges.
إئتلاف الزراعة البيئية في لبنان هو تعاون مجموعات وأفراد يهدف لتأسيس نظام غذائي و زراعي بديل. بعد سلسلة أحداث هزّت الأمن الغذائي في لبنان والعالم، ينبت هذا الإئتلاف ليعيد صياغة معنى الغذاء في الوجدان المحلي من سلعة في السوق العالمي إلى حق لجميع الشعوب. نطرح الزراعة البيئية كبديل يمكّن المجتمعات من تحقيق السيادة الغذائية عبر إدارة مواردها في سبيل بناء نظام غذائي عادل للجميع إجتماعياً وإقتصادياً وبيئياً.إئتلاف الزراعة البيئية في لبنان ثمرة سنين من التضامن والتأمل في الحلول التشاركية والمبادئ الراعية لجميع الفئات من بشر وبيئة. يضم الإئتلاف جهات متعددة راعية لهذه المبادئ من جمعيات محلية و خبراء وناشطين. تتوافق مبادئ الائتلاف مع تصريح نيالاني.
نرى أن الأمن الغذائي في لبنان، كما السلامة الغذائية سابقاً، عارض لنظام قائم غير منظّم، منزوع الخيار والقرار، نظام تابع للنمط التجاري العالمي، يسلّع الغذاء كباقي السلع ويفرض نظام تنافسي انتهازي يستنزف المجتمعات والموارد. كما نرى القدرة المحلية، لا سيّما الطبيعية والثقافية والبشرية منها، على تقليص الأزمة
الغذائية، وربما عكسها.
يسعى الائتلاف لإستعادة حقّ الناس في اختيار ومسائلة مصادر غذائهم والتشجيع على الإستهلاك التضامني والمسؤول. كما يسعى لتمكين المجتمعات الزراعية في تحصيل عيش كريم من الزراعة، وتبني مسؤولياتها في إنتاج غذائي سليم ومناسب يتناغم مع النظم البيئية.
يعمل الائتلاف لتحقيق أهدافه عبر قنوات متعددة تعكس تنوّع الأعضاء والرؤية الإستراتيجية، منها التوعية المجتمعية والإرشاد الزراعي والتشبيك المحلي والإقليمي والجهود البحثية والقانونية ذات الصلة. يؤيد الائتلاف التعاون الإقليمي والعالمي في مواجهة التحديات المشتركة والمتداخلة، مدركاً الترابط العابر للحدود في الموارد والمخاطر. من هذا المنطلق، يعمل الائتلاف على حشد القدرات اللازمة لبناء هذا المجتمع المحلي الرديف لتفادي أزمات السابق وتدارك التحديات الآتية.
